Why I don't sell meal replacements for weight loss—and the harmful cycle they create

Pourquoi je ne vends pas de substituts pour maigrir — et l'engrenage néfaste qu'ils créent - Coaching Nutri

A conviction, not a commercial choice

If you browse my shop, you won't find any weight loss shakes, appetite suppressant pills, or meal replacements promising to make you lose 5 kg in 2 weeks. This isn't an oversight. It's a deeply considered choice, rooted in my values and in what I observe every day with my clients.

Here's why.

Substitutes: A Solution That Creates the Problem

Weight loss substitute products are based on an appealing logic: replace a meal with a controlled, lower-calorie product, supposedly simplifying your life. In theory, it's reassuring. In practice, it's the beginning of an exhausting cycle.

Because this type of product teaches you nothing. It doesn't teach you to listen to your hunger, to recognize satiety, to cook balanced meals, or to manage social meals. It does it for you — and that's precisely the problem.

The Harmful Cycle: How It Really Happens

Here's the pattern I see repeating:

  1. Phase of Enthusiasm: You start the substitutes, you lose a few kilos quickly. You feel in control.
  2. Phase of Dependence: Your normal diet seems complicated, "dangerous." The substitute becomes a psychological crutch.
  3. Phase of Frustration: You crack during a family meal, an outing to a restaurant. Feeling of failure.
  4. Phase of Rebound: When you stop the product, the kilos come back — often with interest. This is the famous yo-yo effect.
  5. Phase of Guilt: You feel responsible for the failure, when it was the system that was poorly designed from the start.

And the cycle begins again, often with another product, another diet, another promise.

What It Does to Your Body

Beyond the mental aspect, repeated food substitutes can have serious physiological effects: disruption of the intestinal microbiota, nutritional deficiencies if misused, deregulation of hunger and satiety signals, and in some cases, the development of restrictive eating behaviors that can lead to eating disorders (EDs).

The human body is not designed to function indefinitely on powders and bars. It is designed to eat real food.

My Approach: Teaching You to Eat, Not to Substitute

What I offer instead is a gentle and progressive dietary re-education. No drastic restrictions. No magic products. But concrete tools: understanding macronutrients, learning to build a balanced plate, managing cravings without guilt, and above all — rediscovering the pleasure of eating.

It's slower. It's less spectacular in the short term. But it's sustainable. And that's the real success.

My Commitment to You

I prefer to sell you less, but help you truly. I prefer that you achieve your goals in 6 months and maintain them for your whole life, rather than losing 3 kg in 3 weeks only to regain them in 2.

That's why you'll never find substitutes here. And that's why my clients come back — not because they depend on my products, but because they have learned not to need them anymore.

True food freedom means no longer needing a crutch to eat healthily.
